“This brings meaning and purpose to the lessons:”

School garden programs (SGPs) offer students opportunities to experience and participate in the processes of nature agriculture through hands-on learning a wide variety outdoor settings. Although value school gardens has been well documented, there is little-to-no concrete support for these within public-school system itself, either at local or provincial level. Most operate vision dedication community members organizations and/or efforts individual educators.
 The purpose this study investigate how are implemented educational settings, identify challenges that exist them. Ten semi-structured, open-ended qualitative interviews were conducted person by video platform with teachers who acted as program facilitators south eastern Ontario. Data analysis shows SGP had 4 key motivations implementing SGPs. These include promoting connection nature, fostering values environmental awareness stewardship, increasing food literacy skills, introducing broader issues inequity social justice. major included funding, administrative operational supports (or lack of), partnerships, long-term visions. results point need consistent policies, sustained reliable other from Ministry Education.
